Western Reserve student Zion Hensley was all set for a big 2020, including a trip to Nationals in December but like many, her plans were derailed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With sports starting to open back up as our country slowly attempts to find some sort of normalcy here in 2021, Hensley, who trains under former lineal middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, will finally get her chance to step back into the ring at the rescheduled 2020 USA Boxing Nationals being held in Shreveport, Lousiana.
Though she might have been waiting to let her hands go in the ring, Hensley has kept herself active as she recently won 4 gold medals and two bronze medals in BJJ which she took up two months ago under the guidance of James Terlecki at Next Level in Austintown.
Hensley, 11, will be competing in the Bantam Female 85 lbs bracket and will face Makayla Castanon of Texas who defeated Eva Knight of North Dakota on Tuesday at noon for the national title.
Fans will be able to tune into the action for free so be sure to check-in for the link tomorrow.
