Fight Night: Pittsburgh's Ukrainian Duo And Regional Matchups Highlight Priory Grand Hall Show

Boxing will return to Pittsburgh's historic Piorry Grand Hall tonight as Mike McSorely and his Integrity Fighter Management team has a solid and action-packed card on tap for tonight.

Headling the card in the evening's main event will be one of the two Ukrainian transplants who has moved to Pittsburgh to train with McSorley, Oleg Dovhun.

Dovhun, 24, will put his unblemished 7-0 record on the line against another undefeated 7-0 fighter in 22-year-old Daron Williams of Washington, D.C. in a match that McSorely is proud of not only as Dovhun's trainer but also as the evening's promoter and matchmaker.

"You don't see this very often on club shows, two guys taking a step up like this early in their careers," said McSorley of the two fighters who will be competing for the ABF USA super bantamweight title in there scheduled eight round bout.  "I'm proud of Daron and I'm certainly proud of Oleg".

Dovhun and Williams won't be the only ones fighting for a belt as the other half of the Ukrainian duo, Lyubomyr Pinchuk (8-1) will put his ABF USA cruiserweight title on the line against  Michigan native Thad Berkhousen (5-5-2) in the evenings co-feature.

While McSorley admits is to the difficulties of putting shows together in Pennsylvania and finding fights for the Ukrainian duo with a strict but fair athletic commission, he also knows, in the long run, it will be beneficial to a fighter such as Dovhun and Pinchuk.

"We have found that in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania when you have your fighters build records in states like this it holds more clout nationally," said McSorley.  "We have found that if we build their records primarily in a state like Pennsylvania we can move the fighter along faster".

Youngstown native John Gregory (2-1) who has been inactive in the ring for nearly three years will climb back into the ring after taking a fight on two weeks notice against Pittsburgh native Deon Goodlow (1-1) in a four round junior middleweight regional matchup.

"I'm ready to showcase my talents and box like I'm supposed to box," said Gregory on taking the fight on short notice.

Youngstown versus Pittsburgh isn't the only regional matchup on tap as a Pittsburgh versus Cleveland backyard brawl is scheduled in the light heavyweight division as Pittsburgh native Jarrell Brackett (1-2) will take on Cleveland's Latiss Norman (1-3) in an intriguing matchup despite both fighters records.

Norman and Brackett face off at the weigh-ins.

"Norman might be a little bit of a slick fighter but he's doing up in weight and I think Brackett is the stronger guy of the two," said McSorley.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the doors which open at 6:00 PM with the first bell slated for 7:00 PM.
