Fight For The Move Event Announced to Benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley


The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley will open its doors to the public next Saturday, November 17 as mission volunteer Jason Elliot has put together an event he is calling Fight for the Move as members of the Youngstown boxing community will be on hand to help support the cause.

The event, which will begin at 1:00 PM and run until 2:30 PM, will benefit the mission's "Move Our Mission" campaign as the missions current 88-year-old building is beyond repair.

Local boxers from the Youngstown boxing community who are confirmed to be on hand include current and former professional boxers Ken Sigurani, Sam Calderon, Alejandro Salinas, Vinny O'Neill, Vic Toney, Darnell Boone, and Anthony Congemi.

A handful of Youngstown's top amateur fighters including Brian Sims, Julian Salinas, Ashton Owens, and Vinny Austin are set to attend as is world champion trainer Jack Loew and Jen Sharp of Southside Boxing Club.

Those attending will have an opportunity to bring items to be autographed and meet the stars of yesterday, today, and the future while Santa Claus will be on hand to bring gloves to the youth in the shelter for them to get autographed. 

Refreshments will be available as will tours of the facility.

Donations for the cause, which you can learn more on by visiting www.moveourmission.org, will be accepted.
