Double Header: Sims Ready for Busy Weekend of Boxing

While many young men his age will be busy weighing their options for what Halloween party to attend, amateur boxer Brian Sims of Downtown Boxing Club will be busy doing what he does best.

Sims, 24 will enter the ring twice this weekend starting with a trip to Pittsburgh on Friday night where the 160-pound 24-year-old from Cleveland who graduated from Euclid High School will fight downtown on Market Square in an outdoor Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh show to celebrate Browns-Steelers week being put on by the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League.

Following his fight in Pittsburgh, the Youngstown State University student who is set to graduate soon with a major in communication studies will bounce right back into the ring the following night in Akron at Springfield High School in the Big Dawg Boxing Club Fight Night 4 event.

"I keep my mindset like it's another day at the gym and I am hoping to maintain this level of being busy," said Sims who upped his record to 16-8 with a win two weeks in Youngstown when asked if fighting on back to back nights will change his approach in the ring.

Ashton Owens from Southside Boxing Club is also slated to be in action in Akron on Saturday night.
