Regional Roundup

While Cleveland fans are sitting around wondering what is going on with their beloved Cavaliers on the hardwood or praying that the Browns don't mess up the upcoming NFL draft, a handful of boxers in Cleveland are continuing their accent for world titles including two that were in action in Sloan, Iowa this past Friday night in a nationally televised card shown live on Showtime.

Montana Love and Thomas Mattice both picked up impressive victories and kept their unbeaten records intact. 

Love, 23, is now 9-0 after dominating Samuel Teah (12-1-1) in their lightweight bout over the course of 8 rounds by scores of 78-74, 78-74, and 76-76 while the 27-year-old Mattice had to come from behind to put away a game Rolando Chinea (15-1-1) by scoring a KO in the 7th of their scheduled 8-round lightweight fight.


- David Rodriguez of Tallmadge, OH will be making his pro debut on March 24th at the Palermo Center in Campbell, OH.  Rodriguez, 22, is the brother Jose Rodriguez Jr. who is currently 5-0 as a professional. 


- Amateur boxing will take center stage in Farrell, PA this upcoming Saturday, February 10th as the Raw Brawl will take place at Raw Boxing and Fitness.  The event will start at 7:30 PM with the doors opening at 6:00 PM.  Admission is $10.00 at the door.


- Pro boxing will take place this Saturday, February 10th at Mountaineer Casino and Resort in New Cumberland, WV as Made Men Promotions presents Cupid's Knockout.  This event is close to selling out so visit www.mademenboxing.com to reserve your seat.  Doors open at 5:00 PM with the first bell scheduled for 7:00 PM.
