The Ray Mancini Foundation will be bringing a major amateur boxing event to the Covelli Centre on October 5th and will be televised live by satellite in Italy.
A press conference was held Wednesday afternoon at the Covelli Centre by event organizer Michael Diven of the Hibernian Celtic Athletic Fund and Mancini who was representing his Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini Foundation to formally announced the event which will bring a team of elite amateurs from Italy to Youngstown to compete against a team of amateurs from the Youngstown region.
The team from Italy will be coached by Italian Olympic Gold Medalist Roberto Cammerelle, who was also on hand for the press conference while the Youngstown regional team will be coached by Mancini.
This event will be the first of two in the region. Another event featuring the Italian team is scheduled for October 9 at The Priory in Pittsburgh.
Tickets for the 16 bout event will go on sale on Thursday, August 31 10:00 AM and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or at the Covelli Center Southwoods Health Box Office. Ticket prices start at $15 for general admission while reserved seating will be available for $25. Ringside seats will be available for $100.
